By opening Canine Bliss Dog Training, owner/instructor Kris Bliss is pursuing a life long dream to train dogs and instruct dog handlers for a living. Kris trained her first dog at the age of twelve and has been working closely with dogs and their families ever since. Kris was involved with the former Tri-County Dog Training as a student and assistant instructor. In 1993 Kris took a 12 week (over 600 hour) Instructor/Handlers course in Civilian and Police Canine Training through Lynnwood’s Kennel. While at Lynwood's Kennels, Kris's responsibilities included pre-training potential police dogs (obedience/narcotics detection) and teaching the same to K-9 officers participating in Lynwood's Police K-9 Academy. Kris also conducted civilian obedience courses which was open to the public.
In 2003, Kris opted to leave police dog training to begin raising a family. She is married to Dean who was a Canine Handler while being a Probation Officer for the Juvenile Court in Tiffin Ohio. Dean and Kris have two sons, Brandon and Brenton. After a short break from dog training, Kris taught classes for several years at Oak Harbor Pet Haven and in August 2006, she opened Canine Bliss, LLC Dog Training. Kris offers instruction in puppy classes, basic and advanced obedience, Tricks, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog, private lessons, behavior consultaions and competition.
Kris continues her pursuit of knowledge, training methods, and troubleshooting by regularly attending seminars, workshops, and classes. She has shown/competed with all three of her family dogs: Rocky (Beagle) in Obedience and Rally, Copper (Beagle) in Conformation and Therapy work, and Macey (Standard Poodle) in Obedience and Rally.
Kris's main objective is to help people establish and maintain the wonderful bond that is possible between dogs and their families.
